GME has exercised a pre-agreed purchase option and acquired the GME shares of 2 institutional investors.
The profits generated during the last years enabled the company to „pay-out“ 2 out of 3 institutional investors. GME expects to purchase the shares of the remaining investor (HTGF) in a few years. The long term strategy of GME’s founders is to create a classic German “Mittelstand” company: private, independent and with a long-term perspective.
The transformation from a company financed by venture capital to a „Mittelstand“ company is quite unusual. Thus the transaction has been highlighted in the renowned German “VentureCapital Magazin“ in the edition 04/2018 (German only).
Dr. Dieter Manstein, one of the founders of GME, has been elected Vice President of ASLMS!
The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) is the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to promoting research, education and high standards of clinical care in the field of medical laser and energy-based applications.
GME received the Best Start-Up Award (“Gründerpreis”) from the North Bavarian Chamber of Commerce. The award is endowed a prize money of 10,000 Euro. GME is one of the three most successful start-up companies in the region.
Valeant International presented the Clear + Brilliant Pélo at the AAD meeting in Washington D.C. a humorous video on laser hair removal was shown on a video wall.
This video also shows a bear that would like to get his hair removed. The bear was very active at Valeant’s booth.
A market introduction seminar for the LinScan 808 was held in Seoul (Korea) on February 20, 2016. Dr. Dieter Manstein, Dr. Wooseok Koh and Dr. Stefan Schulze explained the principle of linear scanning and showed the excellent clinical results generated in Korea by Dr. Koh.
The cooperation with Valeant has been extended to selected countries outside North America. Valeant will market LinScan 808 under the name Clear + Brilliant Pélo also in selected countries in Eastern Europe, in Asia as well as in Spain.
GME’s investor Bayern Kapital celebrated its 20th anniversary in Munich on December 5, 2015. GME was one of the successful companies supported by Bayern Kapital. Ms. Ilse Aigner, Bavarian State Minister of Economic Affairs was very interested in GME‘s products.
The FDA is inspecting medical device manufacturer exporting to the US from time to time. In November 2015, the GME site in Erlangen and the manufacturing partner Askion were inspected for one week. GME and Askion have successfully passed this inspection – a confirmation for the QM system and the GME products.
The EPL® Excimer Pulsed Light system ExSys 308 has been approved as a medical device in Japan. The product is marketed in Japan by our partner JMEC.
Solta Medical markets LinScan 808 in the US and Canada as a part of their clear + brilliant line. The name of the product is “pélo™”, the Spanish name for hair. Read more

GME closed a series B round of financing on december 22, 2014. Dr. Wooseok Koh, a renowned laser hair removal expert from Seoul (Korea) joined as a new shareholder.
The new EPL® (Excimer Pulsed Light) system was presented at the EADV from Oct 8-12, 2014 in Amsterdam.
GME received notification on October 5, 2014 of a sponsorship by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Traffic and Technology (BayTP program). The goal of the project is the development of a device for the treatment of oral lichen planus with UVB light.
On July 15, 2014 the LinScan 808 was approved by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction.
